haven’t posted or thought much about this blog lately, but since the class is going to be making their own blogs,  I figured I better start posting.

We’ll see if “Intro to Web Design” is offered next year, and we’ll add to the site for the 09-10 school year.  Otherwise, I’ll keep this site in hiatus for ten (!) years.  Well, maybe I’ll just save the html and repost it, since it would be pretty dumb to pay 9 bucks a month + domain registration every year for something not being used.  Anyway, I may or may not continue to post on this blog throughout the year.  Hopefully we’ll see a new batch of HTML gurus next fall.  See ya!

Well, this project is snagging a bit, maybe the lack of assigned topics is the reason.  Whatever, when we come back from break we are going to have 3 days to get these “school activities” done.  Student’s aren’t real excited about them.  Oh well.  Next project is to put video on a site, which could be a real challenge since the school usually blocks video.

This week’s assignment:  Pick a school-related topic and create a page about it.  It could be another teacher-feature page, an “unsung hero” page,  a club or group of some type, or just a photo montage-type of page.  If you can’t/won’t think of anything, I will assign a topic to you, but it’s more fun if you pick it yourself :)

Hey, here’s a site with some nice CSS layouts, and you don’t have to download anything.  Just view the source code, copy and paste it, and ‘voila! (It think I spelled that right)

Review pages are done (pretty much).  Some pretty interesting stuff.  Check it out!

Well, the guitar hero tournament was a great success!  Students had a lot of fun, and from the buzz going on around school, I think the next one in the spring will be even better (and bigger).

Web students are creating review pages of stuff like video games, movies, and hobbies.  Sports schedules are pretty much done, a few holes, like in the spring sports, but overall they are done.

Parent-teacher conferences are up for this week (Oct. 13 & 15).

Ftp access is set-up, still a couple of people in class to straighten out, but we should now be able to upload and post pages.  Every student has a “personal” page, and we’re going to do the “teacher feature” pages next.  Then we will divide the class up into departments, and let them go at it.

Well, the personal pages are looking good.  This group of students is pretty versed in html.  That’s the good news.  The bad news is, I’m having a heck of a time trying to get the FTP situation straightened out.  The tech dept. has tightened up the access to things, which I understand, but students can’t get the FireFTP add-on that we need so they can upload and basically run the site.  Oh well, I’ll figure something out before too long.  I hope the students stay patient while I work this out.

Welcome back to the best student body in the state!  Looks like it’s gonna be a hot one in the ol’ dawghouse! Hopefully the AC is working! It will be a little bit before we start getting much content on here, but hopefully after a couple of weeks, info about GHS will be overflowing on our site.

bulldogs are cool!
