Life at GHS pages are done. They’re pretty good, we covered a whole lot of things, from toys for tots to the blood drive(s). Check them out. New assignment is to post some videos on a page. They have to have a linked video and an embedded one. This is one of the assignments that should show what a crappy browser IE is. After this, I think we are going to do some type of “time-capsule” page, where students are going to put things “in” a page that cover their school years, from elementary to now. Should be fun…..

Well, this project is snagging a bit, maybe the lack of assigned topics is the reason. Whatever, when we come back from break we are going to have 3 days to get these “school activities” done. Student’s aren’t real excited about them. Oh well. Next project is to put video on a site, which could be a real challenge since the school usually blocks video. This week’s assignment: Pick a school-related topic and create a page about it. It could be another teacher-feature page, an “unsung hero” page, a club or group of some type, or just a photo montage-type of page. If you can’t/won’t think of anything, I will assign a topic to you, but it’s more fun if you pick it yourself Hey, here’s a site with some nice CSS layouts, and you don’t have to download anything. Just view the source code, copy and paste it, and ‘voila! (It think I spelled that right) http://blog.html.it/layoutgala/LayoutGala03.html
to post something on your blog this week. Some of you have already posted, some many times

Election frenzy!Posted by: bigdawg in school news, tags: gadgets, grandville, high schoolWell, I have to admit, I’ve never seen the student body so “into” the presidential election. Like the country, there was lots of fervor on both sides. Some students still haven’t “gotten over it” yet. Overall, it’s a good thing to see. Classwise, we are starting a new assigment called Techno-Lust. Students are gonna show us their favorite tech gadgets. Onward! We’re at the 1/2 way point of the semester! today we’re starting our blogs. Students are required to post at least once a week on their blog. Halloween’s over, time to look forward to Thanksgiving. Go Dawgs!Review pages are done (pretty much). Some pretty interesting stuff. Check it out! Well, the guitar hero tournament was a great success! Students had a lot of fun, and from the buzz going on around school, I think the next one in the spring will be even better (and bigger). Web students are creating review pages of stuff like video games, movies, and hobbies. Sports schedules are pretty much done, a few holes, like in the spring sports, but overall they are done. Parent-teacher conferences are up for this week (Oct. 13 & 15). During Homecoming week, the Otaku club is going to sponsor a “Guitar Hero” tournament at the HS. Cost will be $2.00. Details are still being worked out, but it looks like it will be held in the cafeteria from 6:30 to 9:00. There will be (3) stations, two for the tournament, and one for people who just want to play against their friends. There will be a prize for 1st & 2nd place. Update: The time has been changed to 6:00 on Thursday until approx. 8:30.. See ya there!
Ftp access is set-up, still a couple of people in class to straighten out, but we should now be able to upload and post pages. Every student has a “personal” page, and we’re going to do the “teacher feature” pages next. Then we will divide the class up into departments, and let them go at it. |
